Microneedling
What is it?
Microneedling is a skin enhancing procedure that can improve texture and tone, scarring, and fine wrinkles. Tiny needles inserted into the skin can reverse and prevent the signs of aging. Microneedling is most commonly used on the face but can be performed on any area of the skin that needs repair, including the legs, chest, back, and butt.
During a Microneedling procedure, tiny, shallow needles create small holes in the skin’s surface. These microinjuries stimulate the body’s natural healing process and creates collagen and elastin. The skin begins to repair itself almost immediately and the result is thicker, more voluminous skin, softened wrinkles, improved texture, tighter skin, and reduction of scars.
The Science
The treatment takes less than 30 minutes and can be performed in our office. An anesthetic cream will be applied to the treatment area to mitigate discomfort. Your skin may be red, similar to a sunburn, after treatment. Collagen growth will happen over the next several weeks to months and many patients require three to six sessions for optimal results.
