IPL

What is it?

Perhaps your skin is rough, patchy, has blotches or discolorations? Or maybe you would like to tighten your skin without surgery? IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) can treat your skin by resurfacing the upper-most layers (the epidermis) and stimulating new collagen production for tighter, smoother, and younger-looking skin.

IPL delivers an intense but gentle burst of light into selectively targeted areas of the skin. The light is absorbed by specific blood vessels or melanin-pigmented areas in the dermis, depending on the condition being treated. This light is converted to heat and is absorbed by the cells being targeted, while leaving the surrounding tissue unaffected. The skin being treated is additionally protected by a dynamic cooling method, which delivers a cooling mist on to the skin before the laser pulse is emitted.

The Science

IPL treatments last about 20-30 minute treatments. An anesthetic numbing cream will be applied to improve comfort during the procedure. You can return to work the day after a treatment.
