Venus Legacy

In recent years, non-invasive radiofrequency treatments have gotten a lot of attention in the world of aesthetic medicine. These treatments use controlled radio waves to heat the skin, which reduces cellulite while simultaneously increasing the production of collagen and elastin fibers. Venus Legacy treatment is among the most popular RF treatments currently on the market due to its minimal downtime and low risk of complications. Safe for all skin types, Venus Legacy can both reduce signs of aging and help with body contouring as it greatly reduces fat and cellulite throughout the body.

If you are considering a this treatment, we’ll provide a brief overview of the procedure below to help you decide whether it is right for you.

How Does Venus Legacy Work?

Venus Legacy uses radio frequency heated treatment to stimulate a healing response in the body. This triggers your body to produce more collagen and elastin fibers, which are the building blocks of healthy skin. These fibers tighten and smooth out the skin. Venus Legacy can also help break down fat cells, slimming the treatment areas.

You can get Venus Legacy done anywhere on the body. Venus Legacy is often an alternative to more invasive skin tightening treatments, such as a tummy tuck. It can also be used to contour the body by reducing fat and cellulite in targeted areas. (However, if your main focus is fat reduction, options such as CoolSculpting may be more effective.)

What Happens During Treatment?

During treatment, your practitioner applies a handheld device to the treatment area that transmits radio frequency deep into the skin. Treatment lasts between 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the area being treated.

Most patients need 6 to 8 treatments in a specific area to see results. Treatments can typically be performed once a week, but talk to your practitioner about the right schedule to meet your specific needs.

Venus Legacy treatment, and radio frequency treatments in general, are usually not painful. Your practitioner can also adjust the heat according to your comfort zone during the procedure. However, some patients have difficulty tolerating heat treatments and may benefit from alternative procedures.

Recovery From Venus Legacy

There is no downtime after treatment, although the area may look red or flushed for the first few hours. Most patients can resume regular physical activity right away. However, always check with your practitioner. Every patient is unique, and you may receive specific aftercare instructions, which you should follow closely to avoid complications.

Are There Risks Associated With This Procedure?

Every procedure comes with risks, but the risks associated with Venus Legacy are very low. The majority of healthy adults experience little to no side effects. Immediately after the procedure, some patients may experience mild swelling, which usually subsides after a few days and does not require medical attention.

While Venus Legacy is safe for all skin types, some patients’ skin do not respond well to RF treatment in general. If you are not getting your desired results, talk to your practitioner about alternatives.

Some patients may not be good candidates for Venus Legacy. Some serious health conditions – such as cancer or certain autoimmune diseases – may disqualify you from Venus Legacy treatment. Those with silicone or saline implants near the treatment area may be at increased risk of complications. You should also refrain from RF treatment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

How Long Do Results Last?

After your final treatment session, you will continue to see improvement for three to four months. Venus Legacy results are semi-permanent. This means you will age out of the results as opposed to the results wearing off.

On average, results will last around 18 months. However, times vary from person to person depending on factors like age, lifestyle, and your current health. Your practitioner will talk to you about when to come in for follow-up sessions. A good skincare routine that includes regular use of sunscreen can help you maintain your results longer.

The Bottom Line

Venus Legacy is a safe, non-invasive body contouring and anti-aging treatment that typically works well on all skin types. The majority of patients can undergo treatment safely and will see substantial results within only a few months.
