From an early age, Leif Rogers knew he had an artistic streak, and wanted to pursue a career that would allow him to be creative. He was particularly interested in how technical skills and creativity can interact, which is why he considered architecture as a possible route early in college. However, after a single class, he realized his passion gravitated toward medicine.
It took awhile for Dr. Rogers to find his way to plastic surgery, however. Like many people, he had preconceived notions that cosmetic procedures were only for vain people. When deciding on a specialty, he originally leaned toward orthopedics. However, he soon realized this route was not for him. While it was technically challenging, he wanted to do something that allowed for more creativity.
He found fulfillment in plastic surgery. Not only did it allow Dr. Rogers to get creative, he realized plastic surgery had the capacity to have profound, positive effects on people’s lives. It was not about mere vanity, but helping people build their self-esteem and self-confidence. Plus, many surgical procedures – like breast reconstruction – were specifically designed to help people recover from illnesses like cancer. He found it enjoyable to work closely with patients one-on-one, taking them from the initial consultation all the way through to the recovery period.
Dr. Leif Rogers Experience
Dr. Rogers now has over 15 years worth of experience as a board-certified plastic surgeon. He specializes in microsurgical breast reconstruction, facial rejuvenation, and body contouring. He has also developed several unique procedures for gender confirmation. He graduated from Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons, and is an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
